South Korean group BTS has become the first group to pass 10 billion streams on Spotify in a single year, its label BigHit Music said on Friday 16 October, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Solo artists including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Bad Bunny have reached the mark before, but no group had, according to the label.

BTS’s Spotify streams more than doubled from 4.5 billion in 2025, Yonhap reported. The increase was driven largely by the group’s fifth studio album, “Arirang”, released on 20 March.

The album has passed 5 billion streams on Spotify, making it the most-streamed album among 2026 releases on the platform, according to the label. It drew more than 110 million streams on its release day, Yonhap reported.

“Arirang” is the group’s first full-group project in nearly four years. It was released after all seven members completed South Korea’s mandatory military service, Anadolu reported.

Yonhap also reported that “Arirang” was the first album by a group to top the US Billboard 200 albums chart for three consecutive weeks since Mumford & Sons’ “Babel” in 2012.

The streaming figures were released by the label. Spotify was not quoted directly in the reports reviewed for this story.
